Being a Woo Happiness Engineer is absolutely amazing. It gives you the opportunity to make a positive impact, bit by bit, on the lives of individuals and businesses who trust you to help and guide them with their stores.
What does my typical day look like?
When I started, my main role was to support all our extensions in the WooCommerce Marketplace and connect with users to understand their goals so I could help them in the best possible way with their objectives.
Woo Support is one of our Happiness Divisions. Each Division has Guilds, Squads & Projects that you have the opportunity to be part of. I’m now part of a Squad called the WooPayments Happy Squad, where I work exclusively with WooPayments users. My main focus is to solve any issues they might have so that they can carry out transactions and receive their earnings without difficulties.
During my 8-hour workday, I regularly spend 6 hours focusing on tickets related to WooPayments. The remaining 2 hours are dedicated to citizenship time, which I’ll explain a bit further below.
My Flexible Schedule
Thanks to Automattic’s scheduling flexibility, I split my day into three blocks to feel more productive and refreshed during the workday. Also, this also allows me to do other planned activities I have in my free time.
For example, in the morning, I feel most energized and ready to tackle the core work, so I start my day with 3 hours of tickets. This is followed by an hour break and then another 3 hours of tickets. Then, in the evening, I spend my last two hours on indirect work (the citizenship time I mentioned above), which basically involves chatting with colleagues, catching up on new posts, and working on projects that I’m involved with at that time.
